“Bringing found visuals together - layering by hand to veil or crop the face - feels organic and compelling for me. These small photomontage images carry a single thread that has run through my creative life - one of quiet, unending longing.”

Linda Green

I was born in Walthamstow & have lived in the borough for most of my life. I studied printmaking at a College of Education in the 60’s and since then have regularly attended courses and developed my work through figurative and abstract  painting, printing making, collage, mixed media and  ceramics. I have an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy.

From 2013 -16 I was ceramic artist in residence at WF College. In 2018/19 I was one of the group of artists which put on the Reading Between the Limes exhibitions in Winns Gallery and the Rose and Crown, helping to raise awareness of the potential loss of the trees in the Lime Tree Walk. With the support of the local community all but three of the lime trees have been saved.  I share a studio in Lloyd Park and have been a regular participant in group shows in the Winns Gallery and the E17 Art Trail. This year showing work in the State of Clay exhibition at Gnome House.

My process of working includes collage and painting and a deliberate accretion  and stripping away of layers which allows me  to find an image that embodies deeply felt experiences, sensations and feelings connected to place, time and memory. Frequent starting points are the natural world, especially my long and deep relationship with Epping Forest,  the poetry of TS Eliot and increasingly my concerns about the climate emergency. The work I am showing here is connected to these themes.
